There has to be a first

So here it is, the very first Cami/deidre blog. With all the changes that will soon be coming Cami and I decided it would be good to establish a blog page so all of you that desire to know about our life, ministry and the like have an easy way to access that information. So here we are writing a blog in hopes to develop a new habit of blogging.

For those of you who are unaware of the changes to come let me outline them for you. In February we intend to relocate ourselves to the sunny city of Compton, California (in the south central region of LA county). Currently, neither of us have jobs, but we see that the Lord has opened a door and asked us to step through it. So Cami is applying to both hospitals and ambulance companies. His preference would be to work as an ER Tech at St. Francis Medical center, but we will take whatever job he gets. This job will merely pay the bills while Cami investigates the other opportunities that are arising. You see, there is a ministry, Here's Life Inner City (HLIC), that has all of the equipment for an outdoor educational ministry and many church who desire such a service, but there is no one to lead the ministry. This is where Cami comes in!! As many of you know this ministry is Cami's dream come true!!! However, there is still some networking that needs to happen and some logistical matters that need to be worked out before he could do it full-time, hence the EMT job. While Cami is working as an EMT and networking for this ministry possibility, I will be substitute teaching in the Compton Unified School District, provided I pass a subject test on January 20th.

So plan is to move to Compton mid-February, so that Cami can network and I can get my foot in the door in the school district. We will stay until mid-June, then travel to a few family events and land in the Portland area sometime in early July to report back to our family and friends of all that has happened. We will spend some time support raising and the like. Hopefully, we will then return to Compton in August at which time Cami will resume his masters work and no longer have to work as an EMT. My early months in Compton will help us determine if I should try to sign on full-time as a teacher or remain a substitute and work on my masters as well.

As you may have gathered, there are many questions still unanswered and quite a few uncertainties. But one thing is sure, God has asked us to go, to join Him in the work that He is doing and invited us to pursue our dreams. So here we go! Throwing caution to the wind in pursuit of something Great!
